Students benefit greatly from Rachel Fagan’s training as a licensed physical therapist. In a gentle but confident manner, she imparts her knowledge of body alignment to every student. The classes are grounded in the Iyengar tradition, a perfect fit for Rachel’s expertise in movement fundamentals.
“I enjoy using my medical background and training to educate students how to prevent injury–both in yoga classes and when they are gardening or doing sports.”
Rachel has practiced yoga for 15 years. She has studied with Cindy Dollar for five years, including the completion of a 200-hour mentorship program. Rachel has also attended workshops with senior Iyengar Yoga instructors, Roger Cole and Dean Lerner.
As a physical therapist, Rachel has worked at the Rehab Institute of Chicago, where she was a Strength and Conditioning coach for the Para Olympics. She also taught aquatic and therapeutic exercise at Vanderbilt University Medical Wellness Center. She then founded Personal Best Fitness, Inc., and trained clients with medical or physical limitations.
When not practicing yoga, she stays fit and happy hiking, biking, skiing, and playing tennis. Currently, Rachel serves on the Board of Directors of Hanger Hall School for Girls. She enjoys spending time with her family: Dr. Blake Fagan, Rebecca, Mary Claire, and Bradley, and her dogs, Chloe and Cherry.
